How to improve your credit score

As we all know these days credit scores are extremely important.  Your credit score follows you anywhere you go just as your social security number does.  It doesn't matter what you are doing getting a Home Loan, buying a car or even lately looking at getting a job.  Alot of factors in our everyday life can be tied to our credit scores.  If you are tired of seeing all the bad advice given by everyone on how to better your credit score.  Here are a few ways to help you better your credit score.

• First and foremost get a copy of your credit report and look it over to see if there are  any errors and get them fixed
• Keep from opening new accounts especially if your credit history isn't long already
• Do not open a store account just to save that initial percentage they offer you at the register (Just Say No)
• Try to pay down your credit cars instead of moving balances to cards with lower interest rate.  You may not see that you put yourself in a position as far as how credit rating is concerned
• Be responcible and open a few credit accounts but keep up with paying them in a timely manner
• The golden rule is to keep your credit card at 25% of whatever the max limit is.  This shows the credit bureaus you have the access to a higher credit line but you refrain from using it.  For example if you max limit on your credit card is $1,000 try to keep it at $250.  Better yet pay it off every month.
• Avoid closing out your older accounts this has a big impact with your credit rating.  The longer good history you have the better it is on your credit score.
• If you can avoid doing bankruptcy but if you feel that is the only way out for you check with friends and family.  Make sure it is in your best interest!
